All three of us are getting very antsy now and we are ready to be on vacation!
I felt a little bit silly, but we got Lenny a life preserver for our week at the lake in NH. We were worried that his weakened leg might give him some trouble if he fell in or actually decided to go swimming. It conveniently has two big handles on top to scoop him out of the water if needed!
Apparently these are very popular dog items. I emailed the fox terrier email list I'm on, and everyone seemed surprised that I would NOT have one for Lenny! What kind of dog companion am I? Don't I love my "fur-kid"?
I entered Lenny as a contestant in the Old Navy mascot competition. They are holding a contest for dogs to replace their old spokes-dog, Magic. I think you can view his entry at THIS LINK. If you have to search for him, it's a pain, because there are currently over 93,000 dogs entered, 4 of which are named "Lenox." One is a sad-looking boxer, one a poodle, and one a Maltese.
My mom went to Fenway Park with her Nike colleagues yesterday. She got her picture taken, and some guy happened to get in the shot...that guy being DOUG FLUTIE, she realized later!!
Finally, here is a picture from Chuck's birthday. We went over to my friend Amanda's house and had an authentic Indian dinner with her and her boyfriend Aaron. We had cheesecake for dessert.
Chuck is in Columbus tonight for CIP rehearsal. There is going to be an outdoor concert saluting our armed services this Friday. Chuck's job is to cue the Sergeant to cue the cannons for the 1812 Overture! Lenny and I will be attending the concert, and then we'll continue driving east, all the way to NH!

Handsome Lenny
As promised, here are some pictures of Lenny with his cute new haircut. Chuck and I remembered the very first time we got his haircut - he was a big hairy dog when we brought him IN to the groomer, and he came out looking like this. We thought they gave us the wrong dog!
Maybe in the fall he'll grow his cute beard back. He can start it at Thanksgiving like Chuck does.
The big news here is that WE ARE GOING ON VACATION!!! The week of Memorial Day, Chuck and I will be in the great states of New Hampshire and Maine. This is a VERY slow time at work, and Chuck doesn't start classes until the middle of June, so it works out very nicely. We are excited to see my family and be back "home."
Speaking of home, the Nashua Symphony Orchestra just announced that their music director is stepping down, and his position is available! Chuck is going to apply.
The only bad news is that there is flooding going on right now over there, and it is supposed to rain all this week as well. Hopefully New Hampshire will still be there by the time we make it out there!
Did you hear about Bloomington's latest headline? Someone found a piece of human finger in their meal at our brand new T.G.I.Friday's restaurant, which is about a block away from our apartment.

Lenny's Leg
Chuck brought Lenny to the vet on Tuesday and got a good check-up. Dr. Koch says that he is doing well on his leg. (Chuck has been walking Lenny for HOURS each day since he's been out of school.) He still sits funny, kind of only on one half of his doggy fanny, but the vet was not concerned. Lenny is walking a LITTLE bit faster than he was, and not hopping anymore. In the mornings, though, you can tell he is really stiff and he holds his leg up a lot.
I had a very proud moment when Chuck told me about what happened when Dr. Koch was examining Lenny. The vet was doing something with his leg, and Lenny was on his back. Dr. Koch scratched his belly, which Lenny took as his cue to SAY CHEESE! Mr. Smarty-pants did a big smile, and the doctor was very impressed. He used to have a dog that said cheese too.
I couldn't go to the vet with them because our office had a surprise bridal shower for Rachel, a girl I work with. It was fun! There were even a few men there. We did a wedding word game and one of our Deans, who is kind of the grandma of the school of music, had some surprisingly R-rated answers! :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHUCK!
Well, we had a lovely weekend in Toledo, and I have some pictures to share, but they're still stuck on my cell phone. June helped me finish my first "knit" project - a red shirt! We also celebrated Chuck's birthday (which was Tuesday!) at his sister's house.
Since I'm so behind on pictures, here are some from our camping adventure the last weekend of April. As you can see, Lenny has a new summer hairdo, minus his usual beard and eyebrows. He has been chewing his feet apart lately from his allergies and the haircut hasn't helped much yet. But he's back at the vet today for a checkup.
Charles used his hatchet, which I thought was very scary, and made a lovely fire. Unfortunately, I only have a picture of the sticks, and not the fire. It got a little colder than we expected at night, and we forgot to bring a blanket for Lenny. He decided to snuggle into my sleeping bag, which was a little too snuggly for comfort. Nobody slept well that night. Lenny was a big chicken and all of the forest sounds scared him.

Coming back
Life is beginning to return to "normal." It is finals week, so the School of Music is just about back to business as usual now. It was definitely a very difficult couple of weeks here.
Chuck is just about finished with everything for his classes and has already settled into post-classes video-games-for-a-week mode. I admit also to playing a little Nintendo in the evenings with him. Tomorrow we are going to drive up to Toledo to visit his parents.
In some exciting STAR WARS NEWS, the ORIGINAL versions of the Star Wars movies are finally coming out on DVD. George Lucas had added a lot of special effects and even deleted scenes back in to the movies. In my opinion, the worst thing he did was get rid of the fun Ewok music at the end of Return of the Jedi in the "new" versions. So I'm happy the Ewok song is back. :) Of course, I got the new version DVDs for Christmas, so I'm going to hold off getting the old versions for now.
GREAT PROJECT RUNWAY NEWS! My favorite show is not coming back in December, as originally planned. It is coming back for Season 3 on JULY 12! So Chuck and I will be spending our anniversary with Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn.
Chuck and I have some fun pictures, which I will post later. I still have our Easter pictures, and pictures of Lenny's new summer hair-do. We also went camping last weekend, so I will post those shots soon!
